STEP Online Courses
College of Nursing & Health Sciences

The Lurleen B. Wallace College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers an online program for students currently licensed in Alabama as Registered Nurses. STEP (Strategic Teaching for Enhanced Professional Preparation) is designed to provide a mechanism by which Registered Nurses may obtain the baccalaureate educational level in nursing. Courses are made available through the use of Internet, CD-ROM and clinical projects. The objectives of the STEP program are consistent with the objectives of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Additional Objectives are to provide:

A quality educational experience from a CCNE accredited baccalaureate program.
Flexible and cost effective means whereby Registered Nurses can complete the baccalaureate degree.
Convenient access to RN students who would otherwise be unable to pursue courses at the baccalaureate level.

Search Instructions

Please review the instructions carefully, and then use the provided link to open the search page where you will perform the search using the instructions provided on this page.

Click on the Search Now link below to open the search criteria page in a new browser window (finish reviewing these instructions before clicking that link).
Choose the schedule term in which you wish to search for courses and click Submit.
You may search all subjects at once to find all STEP Online Courses in any subject, or you may select any combination of one or more subjects. Follow the steps in Option 1 or Option 2 below, then go to step 4.
- Option 1: To search all subjects at once, in the Subject selection box provided:
  - Click the subject at the top of the list.
  - Using the scroll bar provided inside the Subject selection box, scroll to the bottom of the Subject selection box.
  - Hold down the [Shift] key on your keyboard while selecting the last subject in the Subject selection box. You should see all subjects selected at this point.
- Option 2: To search one or more subjects (but not all), in the Subject selection box provided:
  - Click a subject.
  - If you want to search on additional subjects simultaneously, use the scroll bar provided inside the Subject selection box to scroll to the next desired subject.
  - Hold down the [Ctrl] key on your keyboard while selecting the next desired subject. (Repeat the scroll and [Ctrl] click steps to select additional subjects as desired.)
In the Instructional Method selection box, use the scroll bar provided in that selection box to scroll until you see Step/WWW, then select it.
Leave all other settings unchanged, then click Class Search at the bottom of the page.
The results will appear in the same browser window.
- Remember to review the Links and Information section below to register, access Blackboard and to locate other important information.
Use your browser's Back button to return to the search criteria page to perform a new search.
Once you are finished searching, you may close the search window by clicking the 'X' in the top right hand corner of that browser window.
